Corporate Blogs: How and Why - Toronto

May 16, 2006
3:00 pm

mesh.gifI’m on the “Corporate Blogs” panel at the very cool mesh conference in Toronto. It’s moderated by Toronto-based entrepreneur and technology columnist Jen Evans. The other panelists are Tara Hunt of HorsePigCow (now with Riya.com) and Jeremy Wright, author of Blog Marketing. Steve Rubel is also speaking.
deb_weil_at_mesh_vy_steve_rubel.jpgThis is one of those un-panel panels where we’ve exchanged a couple of emails and have a rough agenda. Jen emailed us: “start the panel with an example of what you think is an excellent corporate blog, and why.” Hope we don’t all come up with the same example.

Who is behind mesh?

mesh was put together by five energetic Canadians who decided Toronto needed to have a Web 2.0 conference.

Thanks, Stuart, for including me!

Sneak peek book launch with Fleishman-Hillard - Washington DC

July 25, 2006
4:30 pm

Fleishman-Hillard and I are offering a sneak peek of The Corporate Blogging Book on July 25th

rotated_box_of_books.gifCome rub shoulders with Washington’s blogging cognoscenti. Meet some corporate blogging stars from the book along with a few local blogging celebrities. Win a *signed* advance copy! Yes, that’s the first box of books, at left. The official publication date is August 3rd so you won’t find the book anywhere else. On Tuesday July 25th Fleishman-Hillard and I are hosting a 4:30 - 6:30 PM sneak peek of The Corporate Blogging Book at the 4th Estate Grille in downtown Washington DC (17th and L Streets, NW).

Ask your most important corporate blogging questions! Buy the book!

A few of the star interviewees from the book (including Kevin Holland of ACCABuzz ; Pat Cleary of NAM and Cheryl Contee of Bloggerrelations) will be on hand. So you can ask your blogging questions and get some quick answers. Just learned that celebrity blogger John Aravosis of AMERICAblog is coming. (Note: this is a non-partisan event! Please feel free to come no matter which side of the aisle you’re comfortable on. - DW) Olsson’s will be there with advance copies of the book so you can purchase one. Of course I’ll sign your copy!

“Beyond Blogging” by Fleishman-Hillard and DC Communicator

deb_weil_beyond_blogging_2.gifIf you missed Fleishman-Hillard and DC Communicator’s hugely successful Beyond Blogging 2006 at the Mayflower Hotel on May 19th, you can check out the Webcast of the event. Wish I’d worn red, as my flamboyant fellow panelist Yvonne DiVita did. (Gotta get into this “dressing for TV” thing.)

beyondblogging2006_logo.jpgI’m thrilled to be a panelist at Beyond Blogging 2006, a (BIG) breakfast roundtable sponsored by Fleishman-Hillard and DC Communicator. Keynote speaker is Ed Keller, co-author of The Influentials. Other distinguished panelists include Pete Blackshaw, Yvonne DiVita and Todd Tweedy. The moderator is the inimitable Shel Holtz. TCBB_cover_thumbnail.pngWith a little help from my friends (love those Beatles), the “sneak peek” launch of The Corporate Blogging Book in Washington DC will be a roaring success. Come and rub shoulders with Washington’s blogging cognoscenti. Win a *signed* copy of the book!

Thanks to Pat Cleary (one of the corporate blogging stars in the book) for his write-up that appears today at the top of Google News. And thanks also to my friends in the D.C. office of Fleishman-Hillard who are co-hosting the event with me.

I just received the first hardback copy of the book in the mail from my publisher, Penguin Portfolio. Hey, it’s a *real* book! And below, a whole box of books. I gotta say it looks great!

You’re invited! Come win a *signed* advance copy.

rotated_box_of_books.gifYou won’t find the book anywhere else on July 25th because the official publication date is the following week (August 3rd). Meet Pat and several other blogging stars from the book including Kevin Holland and Cheryl Contee (and maybe some other local blogging celebrities - TBA). We’ll have advance copies of the book on hand for purchase — and of course I’ll sign them.

Hope to see you on July 25th! Details and RSVP info below.
