The results of my 2005 1-Minute Blogging & RSS Survey emphasized that "Time" was the top fear factor holding folks back from creating and maintaining a corporate blog. [PDF summary of 2005 survey - 708 respondents] This year's results are not dramatically different. "Time" is still a concern. "What to write about" is an equal concern. In addition, the non-adoption rate of RSS appears to be continuing. 59 percent say they have downloaded an RSS newsreader; only 42 percent are using one to read blogs via RSS. There were just under 450 responses this year, from a mix of small business and corporate types. Most, presumably, are readers of WordBiz Report, where I advertised the survey. [
Corporate Blogs: How and Why - Toronto
Posted in the Category of Speaking
I'm on the "Corporate Blogs" panel at the very cool mesh conference in Toronto. It's moderated by Toronto-based entrepreneur and technology columnist Jen Evans. The other panelists are Tara Hunt of HorsePigCow (now with Riya.com) and Jeremy Wright, author of Blog Marketing. Steve Rubel is also speaking.
This is one of those un-panel panels where we've exchanged a couple of emails and have a rough agenda. Jen emailed us: "start the panel with an example of what you think is an excellent corporate blog, and why." Hope we don't all come up with the same example.
