Bill_marriott_blog Or so it seems after a quick look at his new blog, Marriott on the move. It launched on Jan. 16, 2007 and he's already got four entries up.

He's also gotten a total of 186 Comments from readers (as of this writing). And he's got a nice sense of style (or someone on his staff knows how to write good headlines for his posts.) I like this one: Taking Pilates Classes.

As a yoga practioner myself, I'm pretty darn impressed if Bill Marriott is doing Pilates at age 74. Bill, please slow down or I'll never be able to keep up with you -- blogging or otherwise.

As far as I know, Bill is the second Fortune 500 CEO with his own (public) blog (Sun's Jonathan Schwartz is the first, of course.)

Mr. Marriott:
I am disappointed that the corporate website does not include a link to provide feedback on your customer’s Marriott experiences. Although I generally prefer Marriott hotels for my business and personal travels, my most recent experience at the Marriott Courtyard in Covington, KY has not lived up to my expectations.  After being awakened at 3:00 in the morning in Room 328 of the Covington Courtyard by a train rumbling past my room almost directly under the river bridge over the Ohio River between Cincinnati and Covington, I requested and was graciously offered another room in a “more quiet” area of the hotel. When I returned from my business at the end of the day, I was given the keys to room 620, on the same side of the building, three floors higher and three rooms further down the hall than my original room. I will admit that the trains are slightly less bothersome here than in my previous room, but since I made it very clear that I was a very light sleeper, had stayed at this Courtyard for 12 nights already in 2007 and planned on staying here for atleast that many more nights between tonight and June, I expected they could find a better alternative than they had.
I realize that someone has to be on the noisy end of the building, but as I explained to the desk clerk, I have given up the one night of sleep that I will give up and if tonight is as bad as last night, I’ll have to look for an alternative to my preferred provider of lodging on my future trips to Cincinnati. I am sure there are vacant rooms tonight at the opposite end of this hotel on one of the eight floors, and given my request for a more quiet room, I can’t for the life of me figure out why I was not given one of them.

Thanks for listening. A feedback link on the corporate web-site would have allowed me to vent to someone else and might prove to be a useful tool for continuous improvement.
