I've been touting the advantages of adding audio clips to your site or emails to humanize them. But how do you know where to draw the line between effective and over the top? Judy Gombita sent me the following link: CLICK HERE to hear a holiday audio message from the CEO of a technology company. Waddya think? Weird or wonderful?! Coincidentally, I created a bizarre voice animation today, courtesy of Hanes' ComfortSoft Underwear site. I don't sound like this, really! And I have absolutely no relationship with Hanes. (My free holiday gift in the WordBiz Store is not wrapped in pantyhose... ) I just wanted to test how this worked. Clever idea for a viral campaign, isn't it? Add your 2 cents by using the comments link below. P.S. I think the CEO's greeting (link above) is weird...

I just checked out the Vault Technologies audio and I like the idea. To me though, it lacks humor.  What is creepy to me is the ridiculous image of the President as Santa mixed with a boring and stale message.

I wanted to laugh and see Vault as a fun company- instead I feel like they tried, but didn’t quite make it.

Nice one… I think.

I think I have to agree with Lee. I also liked the idea, but the overall look didn’t have any ‘wow factor’. Let’s face it, we’ve all been entertained by the best; however, something with a creative twist would have been more captivating.

I do have to say, though, that I bet not many cards like that went out from other companies. So sometimes you take lumps being the pioneer. Next year Vault Technologies will have lots of entertaining ‘copy cats’.

Hey, Debbie, thanks for leading with your 1st of it’s kind teleseminar on Blogs for Business! I really enjoyed it.

I personalized the card and found it easy to do and very, very funny.  However, the advertiser totally missed his chance to acquire me as a customer as there were no live links for me to get to see what kindly Hanes had to offer.

I laughed at the Vault one, then checked I really meant it. I did. It was funny. Sure, the deadpan presentation of the president might come across as boring to some, but I’m a Seinfeld fan so I chose to believe it was a deliberate attempt at understated humour.

I’d definitely remember Vault favourably if I were one of there customers and received this email from them.
