If you still don't understand - or believe in - the ripple effect of blogging, consider this story: the father of a Maryland family, the sole bread winner, was laid off and eviction from their home was imminent. A friend posted a donation link on her blog to help the family raise a little cash.

After five days, strangers had donated a total of $11,032. Enough so the family could pay $10,000 to bring their mortgage up to date and enjoy Christmas in their home... which they own once again.

Can you say viral marketing? Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus and... blogs do have an amazing magnifying effect.

Via CNN: Blog 'miracle' saves Christmas for hard-luck family. Note: the CNN story doesn't include a link to the friend's blog.

Great story! I wish it worked out that well for everyone.  It truly does show that anyone can use a blog to transform their lives during tough times.
