I've finally got a video up that shows me strutting the stage to give a keynote on corporate blogging. This was shot at Webcom in Montreal. A shout-out to the nice bald head (it belongs to Mitch Joel) that appears in the right-hand corner in the first few seconds. Thanks to the talented Adam Strasberg for the video editing.

Debbie, this is a fantastic video promo.  I like the seriousness in your voice when communicating your message on companies having to blog.  The companies that don’t have a serious opportunity cost.

Nice job!

Thanks Dan for your kind words - much appreciated. Now I need to create one that’s better quality video.

“Companies are afraid to be critized” and even more afraid of losing control. But exactly happens if the company blog is just a ‘half-pregnant’ try. Like you said: the quality and credibility of the content makes the difference.

Well done

Your comment is accurate about criticism being a concern for companies considering blogging. I also submit an even greater concern and that’s change.  The culture of dialogue is usually confined to customer service and HR.

It’s like the room you throw all your clutter into when you learn guests are just dropping by.  You are not ready to put on your best face so you close that door and tell them the dog is in there, or some other excuse.

If companies are not ready to tidy up, respond to discussion, have a culture of improvement and not “gotcha”, then a blog will be a company newsletter online - Gag me.

Criticism is a fact of life for companies, they get it all the time and have pat answers for it. Responding to criticism with defensive answers is standard operating procedure, a blog won’t cure that.

Blogging successfully, a commitment to actually listen and change when the factors warrant.  I know this in part cause I have your book on my shelf. :>)  All the best

PS nice headshot Mitch
