My new integrated blog / site went live today. The first thing you'll notice is the lack of clutter. The talented folks at Viget convinced me that less is more.

So... no endless stack of widgets in the right-hand column of my blog. No "Digg this" or "Technorati" icons under each blog entry. We thought about this long and hard and I'm glad we did it this way. Note that there are icons for LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and in the footer of each page.

It's been a busy year. We (my husband and I - not the Viget team!) moved to a much smaller house, decluttering and downsizing after 20 years. We love it! No regrets. Finally, I'm thinking about a new direction for my business. I'll continue to consult and speak in the meantime. Stay in touch!

If you see anything amiss on the new site, do let me know. We're still working out a few kinks. If you're curious, the new site is built on Expression Engine.

Congratulations on your new site! It truly is magnificent (I already filed Viget’s info for future use). As a loyal reader, I thank you. And my “eyes” thank you, too. Re: Your reference of a New House and New Site in the header…maybe you really have 2 New Houses now: one online and one offline?

Thanks again for your new hospitality.  Best, JP

P.S. Have your Viget folks check on your Comment “Preview” button, too.

Nicely done. It’s a tough process with lots of choices, but it appears you chose wisely!  Looks great!

Thanks guys. We’re still working out a few bugs. I’m liking the simplicity. Hopefully it’s easy to find stuff. I’ve got blog content going back over five years.

I don’t know what your website looked like before but I really like the look of it now.
I like it so much I think I will write a blog post about it.
I wrote an article about blog design on BlogHer and your blog is a definite example of good blog design ( ).

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know that I think you chose wisely because it looks great.

I just thought you ought to know that I couldn’t preview my comment. It gave me an error message.

Also your email address comes up in the Email: field.

Just thought I would let you know in case you were unaware ;o)

Hi Debbie - Nice, clean look. I was never a fan of the blogs with the endless list of badges and boxes and sign-up-now forms floating all over the place. We are in the midst of a re-design here at Sawmill and your “No Blog Clutter” declaration will be on our minds.

Your site is BEAUTIFUL!  Great work and advice from Viget.

I’m working with Taughnee at Endeavor Creative on a graphical identity for my blog and will be sure to take some pointers from you.

Looking forward to meeting in person!
